Basic troubleshooting on Yealink Bluetooth Headset


Bluetooth Headsets usually follow the same setup:

  • They connect cordless to the Dongle
  • They need to be charged


General

Do NOT use the Bluetooth device built into the PC/Laptop to connect the Headset, use the dongle that comes with the Headset.

Ensure that Yealink USB Connect is installed to provide firmware updates and allow necessary troubleshooting steps to be taken.


Possible issues 


Using Bluetooth devices the following issues can occur:

  • No Audio
  • One-way Audio
  • Headset not connected


Causes for the above can be:

IssuePossible CausePossible Fix
Headset not working
  • No Power
  • Ensure the Headset is charged and powered on
  • Ensure Headset makes proper contact with cradle when added to charge (Charging light is active)
  • Ensure the 230V Wall socket is active
  • Check with a different PSU



  • Device has power but doesn't work
  • Device not recognized

Used with PC

  • Ensure the Headset is set as default Audio device in Audio settings of PC (See below)
  • Ensure the Headset and Bluetooth dongle can be seen inside USB Connect 
  • Update Firmware on both if possible
  • Remove Bluetooth dongle from PC/Phone and plug back in
  • Test on a different PC

Used with IP Phone

  • Ensure the Headset is recognized on the phone when plugged in and the Headset button is active (see below)
  • Remove Bluetooth dongle from Phone and plug back in
  • Test on a different Phone

One-way Audio
  • Remote party can't hear you
  • You can't hear remote party
  • Ensure the Microphone is activated by moving it to the right position
  • Ensure the Microphone and Speaker are default Audio devices in Audio settings on the PC (See below)
  • Update Firmware on both if possible
  • Remove Bluetooth dongle from PC and plug back in
  • Test on a different PC

Audio quality issues
  • Crackling
  • Dropouts
  • Move Bluetooth dongle from back of PC to front
  • Ensure there is no obstruction between the Bluetooth dongle and the Headset (Water, metal and other dense materials will decrease the signal strength by a lot)
  • Distance between dongle and Headset is not to big


Audio Settings


The Audio settings on a PC can be found under:


Click on the Windows Icon 


Then type in straight away:

Audio


Windows will offer you 'Sound settings' - click on open:


Inside the Sound settings ensure your Headset is listed as default Output and Input device:


USB Headset & IP Phone


If the Headset is used in combination with an IP Phone, please ensure the following:


Before the Headset is added:



Once the Bluetooth dongle is added to the Phone:
